Last post of 2024 PLUS some news about 2025...

 Happy Thursday, cycling fans!


I started this blog just in time for the Vuelta a Espana earlier this year, but didn't really know what I was doing, so just sort of let my brain go with the flow. As such, I basically just did a small bit of writing and then posted the podiums for each stage.


Over the last few weeks, however, I've decided to change things around a bit for the 2025 season (which kicks off in Australia in January with the Tour Down Under for both the men's and women's seasons). I will be doing a longer and more informative write up of each race (or each week of a multi-week race such as the Grand Tours). I will endeavour to have this published each Monday through the cycling season, however there may be some weeks in which it ends up being on the Tuesday or later.


I started this blog because I am an aspiring sports journalist and broadcaster and I do also follow other sports - particularly football (I'm a season ticket holder at my local football club and occasionally attend away games when possible). I also follow rugby union, cricket and ice hockey.

2025 Tour Down Under Report

  Happy Monday, cycling fans! The Men’s WorldTour season began with a bang in Australia last week as the Tour Down Under took place in and around Adelaide. Stage 1 went from Prospect to Gumeracha in a stage which saw Bastien Tronchon of Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale go on an early attack. He was joined by Zac Marriage and Fergus Browning - both Australians - as they looked to make a statement on home roads. Eventually Tronchon left the Aussies to it and returned to the peloton. Marriage and Browning continued in their two-man breakaway for much of the rest of the stage before they themselves returned to the peloton with 23km to go. There was a crash towards the end of the stage, which involved current Australian national champion Luke Durbridge, however it was nothing too serious and he carried on. 2025 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race Reports

  Happy Wednesday, cycling fans! I’d like to start off by apologising for the late running of this week’s post. I had a busy weekend so didn’t get a chance to watch the races until yesterday and today. Starting off with the women’s race, which took place on Saturday, Kim Cadzow was the first rider to launch an attack, but she then returned to the peloton. Her EF Education-Oatly teammate Babette van der Wolf then launched an attack of her own and was joined by Stine Dale. While this was going on, a crash occurred which included Australia’s Maeve Plouffe, riding for the national team. Marit Raaijmakers was then involved in another crash shortly after. Stine Dale ended up taking the first Queen of the Mountains points with just over 30km to go, with van der Wolf coming second and Amber Kraak coming third on the climb. 2024 Track World Championships Results

 Happy Monday Tuesday, cycling fans! Last week our attention turned from the road to the track with the UCI Track World Championships. Denmark played host this year, with the velodrome just outside of Copenhagen giving us plenty of action over 5 days of thrilling racing. Below are the results of each race.
